Definition:

  • The virtue by which man pursues what is great and honorable in his life, even if it is difficult (CatholicEducation)
  • Showing or suggesting a lofty and courageous spirit (MW)
  • Kindness and generosity toward those who are below you, noblesse oblige (CAM)

Vices:

  • Excess: Condescension, kindness based in egotism
  • Deficit: Weakness, the fear of pursuing greatness in one’s life

Example:

Responding to an accident with politeness and understanding
