Definition:

  • A firmness of mind required in doing good and enduring evil (catholicedu)
  • Strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain with courage (MW)
  • Bravery when dealing with pain or difficulty (CAM)

Vices:

  • Deficiency: Weakness, the inability to endure pain in facing evil or doing good
  • Excess: Recklessness

Example:

Speaking your conscience when it would be easier and less disruptive to stay silent
