Definition

  • To alleviate the grief, sense of loss, or trouble of others (M-W)

Note: compassion is the desire to reduce the suffering of another person out of love, and consoling is the concrete action of that desire

Vices

  • Excess: Overbearing- working beyond what the sufferer really needs
  • Deficit: Apathy or maliciousness- not helping or working against the sufferer
